In 1842 the 11 year-old heir to the Persian throne received a camera from Queen Victoria of England. In the following decades he documented his life, revealing to the public eye what it was never supposed to see.

Women with mustaches, a self-indulgent king, an imperialistic England, and not at least, a beautiful calico cat, are the main performers in this documentary depicting the power struggles and intrigues in the Persian harem in the second half of the 19th century. The documentary is an investigation into how things became as they are in Iran, but from a perspective that is all too often overlooked: namely, the influential role played by women in the political processes.

The film has been screened at Exile Film Festival in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2011, at International Images – Film Festival for Women in Harare, Zimbabwe in 2011, at  Los Angeles International Underground Film Festival in 2011, at ViBGYOR Film Festival in Thrissur, India in 2012. It will also be screened at DOCartoon in Pietrasanta, Italia in September 2012.

It was awarded as Best Feature Documentary and Best Foreign Film at Los Angeles International Underground Film Festival.
